Through this program series, we are interfacing the community with experts in the One Health field, through interactive talks, community engagement, curated hands-on activities, films and exhibits for schools, teachers, colleges and various organizations.

Introducing this idea, we conducted the pre-launch on Nov 12, 2024 at the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, to celebrate the 'World AMR awareness week' WAAW with an expert talk "Public Health Surveillance for pathogens and disease monitoring", by Dr. Shivranjani Moharir, Senior Scientist at Tata Institute for Genetics and Society, India, outreach activities and exhibits by Dr. Sufia Sadaf (Ph.D.), Program Manager, The Rockefeller Foundation-APSI-India Outreach, NCBS-TIFR with Sai Disha K and curated hands-on activities by Visvesvaraya Museum team and Dr. Moharir's group, presented by Sreelekshmi R S and Apoorva Shrivatsa.

The expert talk covered the 'need for pathogen surveillance', 'rising antimicrobial resistance', 'pandemic preparedness' and the 'role of community' in mitigating the public health threats and aiding in the ongoing surveillance efforts along with novel surveillance methods for tracking pathogens and AMR trends at individual and community level in India and throughout the world!

With up to 120 school students in attendance along with their teachers, VITM, NCBS and TIGS teams, mentors- volunteers and organizers, the interactive sessions were engaging, laden with curiosity and buzzing with active participation!

This program series will include one expert talk biweekly and curated hands-on activities and exhibits to bring the science of public health, animal health and environmental surveillance, via the One Health kaleidoscope to the society, as part of the Public Outreach under The Rockefeller Foundation-APSI-India program.

📢 We look forward to the main launch of this series on Dec 20, 2024, watch out this space for more details!
