The 6th program of the 'Science and Community: One Health Initiative', was a collaborative effort between National Centre for Biological Sciences, NCBS, Tata Institute for Genetics and Society, India and Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum as part of the "Vaccines: Injecting Hope" international traveling exhibition, on Feb 25, 2025.
The 5th program was merged with the 2nd cohort ASHA training program, ‘Samartha tarabeti’ under the aegis of The Rockefeller Foundation-APSI-India outreach, for education and dialog.
This initiative explored the science, history, and impact of vaccines through expert talks, hands-on activities, and interactive sessions.
The Feb 25th February 2025 program began at 11:00 AM at VITM, Bangalore, attended by high school students, B.Sc. and M.Sc students and NGOs. The expert talk on "COVID-19: Lessons from the Pandemic and Science-Backed Strategies to Mitigate Infections", was delivered by Prof. Utpal Tatu, Dept of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science - IISc followed by interactive activities and curated hands-on exhibits, that delve into the science behind vaccines and public health. Through the interactive interfacing, the community had a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into pathogens, zoonosis, disease outbreak, pandemic preparedness and public health strategies.
